Class 13: Upping Your Automation Game with Delays
Transcript
You know what's a dumb mindset when you're, building on an automation? It's when you're building out the critical ones, it's not adding delays. You're gonna make a big mess out of it. Specifically, when you're first running this MVP of the automation, like the first few iterations fresh out.
And if it's a critical flow, like, you know, it's doing some critical stuff, like sending an email to your CEO or sending some some kind of external communication, which is like business critical. Or worst case scenario, setting one million contacts as marketing. So you don't wanna do that. Delays will be your best friend to know, save yourself from that kind of trouble.
Specifically, I've seen a case where one of the person basically enrolled one million contacts in a workflow by mistake with the wrong trigger. Mistakes happen, fine. But there was no delay. And, she accidentally enrolled one million contacts to set to marketing, And then their tier, like marketing, her tier shot up like crazy.
And there was like huge stuff and pain in the neck process happening for them. And I could, cannot disclose any more than this, but it was a huge, huge, huge trouble. I cannot emphasize this enough. So you will go to the, no delay.
And if you're running your automation for the first time, feel free to just, you know, jump on the delay and add the delay as, you know, based on your specific use case, no specific recommendation here. Now you'll find, okay, oh, this particular deal shouldn't be here. Now you can easily select it and unenroll this so you can, you know, chill out a little bit. Specifically recommended for any kinds of business business critical workflows.
So for example, this is the done workflow. Deal is sending to close bond. I was supposed to, set a property value differently, but I'm just moving this deal back to stage one. And that will, you know, get the entire sales team and sales manager, at my door.
They'll be, you know, sending out hitmans for me, for doing this. They're like, hey dude, we just want this deal. Why are you sending it back to stage, you know, stage one? But, there are other cases like, you know, setting marketing contacts, sending any kind of external communication.
So ad delays, this is gonna save you a lot of trouble. So, yeah, that's a quick clip. Let me know if you have any other thoughts on this or what was your spooky, workflow mistake story. Thank you.
